Over 10,000 people visited Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus on October 1st for the popular contemporary art event Nuit Blanche where they could experience 20 installations and projects. Nuit Blanche, which is free, started at sunset on October 1st and continued to sunrise the next morning at locations across Toronto. Lakeshore hosted Nuit Blanche's first-ever Etobicoke neighbourhood hub. This year’s event was billed as being the most expansive to date with artwork by more than 170 local, national, and international artists. There was a variety of media on display including textile, dance, multimedia, sound, video, sculpture, projection and more with many of the projects being interactive. My name is Stephen Owiredu. I am a recent Humber College graduate with a diploma in Tourism - Travel Services Management (Class of 2023). I am enthusiastic about working in the tourism business. Throughout my internship with WestJet Airlines, I had the chance to work directly with the customer service staff and help travelers with their travel requirements throughout the pandemic. I was able to find work and maintain my position in the aviation business. This work helped me to hone my communication and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced atmosphere. I am grateful for the valuable skills and experience I gained. I am confident that my education and hands-on experience have prepared me well for a career in the tourism industry. I am eager to contribute my knowledge and skills to a dynamic organization that values customer satisfaction and strives to provide exceptional travel experiences. During my time at Humber College, I took an elective course called the cruise industry, and it sparked my interest in pursuing a career in this specific area of tourism.Currently, I am working on getting into the cruiseline industry associated with clia, which I believe will allow me to further enhance my expertise in the tourism field.After joining the cruiseline industry to gain experience in the field. I will be returning to school to continue with my bachelors degree,also further my career within the public service(Federal Government Of Canada).
